Obama our first “Black” President …or is He?

Is Santa Claus “black”?, Was Adolph Hitler “black”?, perhaps Jesus Christ was…oh wait I mean…IS “black”? Of course, they were not “black”…so what makes our new President “black”?

Ok let’s see:

President Obama	Makes Him
has a wide nose	“black”
has a deep tan	“black”
has a father who abandoned him and his mom	“black”
was raised by “white” grandparents	“white”
tried drugs…didn’t sell drugs	“white”
plays basketball and can jump	“black”
married to the mother of his kids	“white”
graduated from high school/higher education	“white”
didn’t let discrimination keep him down or used as an excuse for failure	“white”
has not been in jail	“white”
has dark lips	“smoker”

Ok I guess he has a little “black” in him, since he seems good at basketball. But to say that he is “black” is perplexing. The truth of the matter is that President Obama is as “white” as snow, albeit….internally. (here I use “white” to generalize the culture of the majority — the standard if you will)

He has never related to the “black” America in the least. In his book, “The Audacity of Hope,” Obama makes it clear that, while he has experienced some light versions of typical racial stereotypes, he cannot claim those problems as his own – nor has he lived the life of a black American.”

The reality is that “blacks” call Obama: “one of our own”, giving themselves a self-esteem boost. The rest of America tells “blacks” that yes, Obama is “one of your own”….to give them a self-esteem boost. But everyone in the world…”blacks”, “whites”, Chinese, Russians, etc…know that he is far from being anything close to “black”. But pity of “blacks” takes precedence.

Many people of different cultures and skin tones voted for President Obama, not because he was “black”, but because he gave us hope. “Blacks” on the other hand, made it obvious that his skin tone and wide nose were the “skills” that made this man the best candidate.

As a Republican, I’m glad I voted for Obama. During these times of economic catastrophe, he appears to be right person to lead America and the world. Time will tell.

“Blacks” should see Obama as what he is…the 44th President, not the 1st “Black” president. Yes, I say “Blacks” should, because I don’t hear any “whites” saying it. “Whites” don’t seem to care if he is a “Negro”, a “Wetback”, or a “Redneck”….all they care is that he leads us out of this god forsaken economy….and of course that he speak with proper English.

Besides, there were other “black” American presidents, “blacker” than Obama, among them Andrew Jackson and Abraham Lincoln. This is well known and documented. These past presidents had the luck to be born with lighter skin tone.

Hopefully one day we all be treated as human beings…labels will be something from the past…a mistake of our ancestors.

$700 Billion or Our Wellbeing

The House of Representative today decided to play politics with the lives of every American, literally. Hahaha! These representatives…..they were soooo funny! Our economy lost ONE TRILLION dollars in one afternoon…just like that….thanks to this joke.

Worst of all…Congress will not do anything until Thursday, because Tuesday and Wednesday are Jewish Holidays. You must be kidding me. I better not say anything, because then I would be called a judeophobe.

This bailout should have passed today. I do believe the credit crisis is so serious that the repercussions of not acting will be felt by every single one of us. Jobs would be lost as payroll cannot be funded and as companies cannot extend credit to clients or even get any short-term credit themselves for regular operations.

Those who accuse the Wall Street executives and investors of greed are right…but it doesn’t stop there…all those homeowners who knowingly got into a mortgage, knowing that they couldn’t pay for it and then simply defaulted also carry the blame. The 700 billion is only temporary lubricant for the economy, but as a permanent fix, I would suggest we shoot all these people dead. Only this will prevent any future financial crisis like the current one.

$700 Billion is a lot of money; it represents about $2,300 for every single American. This is the price we have to pay for the bad decisions of our leaders and our neighbors. And although it would be more efficient to kill these people it would also be illegal….so we better bail them out, otherwise we will pay a higher price.

Tennis Pushers should be Banned from the Sport

I’ve played my first three matches and I have lost. The first two matches…were with players much older than me, with a lot of experience. For instance, in the doubles match the guys were amazing net players…However, today’s match has me so angry…not at myself, but at the guy I played against.

In tennis, I’ve always heard people talking about “pushers”…how they hated playing against “pushers”… “Pushers should be banned from tennis”…etc…etc.

I’ve always thought this was just bad losers’ talk. I thought that if you can play good tennis, you should be able to defeat anyone. I never understood why there are forums and even videos in YouTube of how to defeat a pusher.

But today I played a professional pusher. They are seriously unbelievable…they should be banned from tennis. They don’t play tennis at all.

This fucking loser I played against tonight…didn’t swing his racquet once. Initially, since this was my first encounter with a professional pusher….I didn’t know what was going on. I thought to myself “why is he playing so weird?!”…”maybe he just needs to warm up…or he is extremely nervous or something”.

What is a pusher?

“In tennis, a pusher is a player who “pushes” back any shot they can chase down, without deliberately hitting a winner. This style of play, likened to a “human backboard”, often tires and frustrates more skilled opponents. Pushers tend to have great success at the 3.0 and 3.5 NTRP rating levels” (Wikipedia.org)

This guy was using a racquet with a head size that had to be no less than 110sq. inch. It was huge. All he did was chase every ball and block it or literary push it over the net like a little bitch!. I had never experienced this in my life…at least not at this level…it was crazy. The guy didn’t play tennis at all. I honestly didn’t know what to do.

During the end of the first set and all of the second set…when I realized what was going on….I tried every different technique I could think of. I was even trying to remember the YouTube video on how to defeat a pusher…which I had seen but really didn’t pay attention, again thinking that they didn’t really exist. Many of the points I won required extreme use of energy; because the guy would not play…just do a little push with the racquet. This wasn’t tennis. I tried moving him from side to side but he would just run…stretch and block the ball back or give me a shitty slice just over the net. So I would volley his short…shitty shot…he would somehow get it and many times lob it. Not a normal or defensive lob…this was a deliberate shot upward into the sky. I would look up at the ball disappearing almost into the cloud and be like “What the fuck is that?!”

I’m so upset. This guy should not be playing tennis.

I now know…what other tennis players mean when they say, they hate a fucking pusher !!

To top it all off…I received an email from one of my professors. She wanted to know if I would be continuing with the class. When I saw her email my first reaction was….”Oh shit! I forgot I’m registered for class!!!” I had forgotten I had classes that started two weeks ago. Doing an Executive Masters. The courses are online…so I need to do some major catching up this weekend.

Tennis Tournaments – Not a Good Start

Ok here we go… I started my tennis tournament season —terribly—. First match yesterday and my frustration took over me again. I’m not sure what the hell is wrong with me.

I’m up 5-3 in the first set. I hit an amazing backhand…really wide and hard, which takes my opponent out of the court. He barely gets it and makes a shitty short shot, which I was ready for. As I ran towards the middle of the court…I know that it would be impossible not to win this point, thus the set. My opponent is out of the court and I have a completely –100%– open court. All I have to do is hit the ball, no matter how; just make it over the net. My genius mind decides to put it deep crosscourt with the help of some top spin *sigh*.

It was out by no more than inch.

When I saw that ball hit out…everything froze for a second. I stood there and I just couldn’t believe it.
I became so frustrated with myself that I gave up not only that game…but the set 5-7…and then match. The second set, I didn’t even try.

I have been working on my emotions. I feel like a 5 year old that once something doesn’t go his way…he decides to stop playing.

My friend Lisa, who also plays tennis…told me the night before this match: “The problem is that as soon as you make a mistake….normally by the first game…you get so frustrated that you lose the match right there and then!” …She was right *sigh*.

Ok…although I was terribly depressed about losing my first match. I got a bunch of matches left. Not losing anymore. I think I’m tired of losing.

My forehand is at 80%…I have a completely new and improved forehand. It took me about three months, private lessons and a strained wrist…but finally got some good top spin. Allows me to hit my forehand deep and with more power…while keeping it inside. The 20% I’m missing is good power, which I’ll introduce over time as I get more comfortable with the shot.
I’m working on improving my backhand…although I have a very solid backhand. Probably the best backhand I’ve seen after Roger Federer’s. Seriously. So I want to improve it…because I want my backhand to be second to no one.

My serve is solid. I’m also working on improving it by making it a one consistent movement serve. I currently have a two movement serving swing.

Finally…the one thing I’m doing extremely poorly…is handling the short shots. I know what I’m doing wrong…I don’t stop as I get to the ball…need to shorten my swing…and I don’t keep my eye on the ball. This is what keeps me from winning most matches.
I’m also playing doubles. Doubles is kind of new for me. I’m not too concern however, because I have a good partner…Pablo. The concern would be… does Pablo have a good partner? I really think we are going to do well. I introduced Pablo to tennis about a year ago. He “fired” me as his coach a couple of months after. But oh well…. We have our first doubles match tomorrow.

I’m going to win all of this week’s matches for you guys…my blog readers. I’ll make you guys proud.

I’ve been asked multiple times to write about the presidential elections. Understandably, it seems many of my readers take to heart the wisdom presented in this blog. But then again, is actual wisdom even possible in an election for the leader of the free world?

First let me tell you a truth….I am a registered Republican who has admired John McCain for many years. Unless you are part of the majority population of American voters who are too stupid or close-minded to know anything real about politics, you would know that McCain has been the personification of the millions of moderate Republicans in the U.S. As the extreme religious right has taken over the party, McCain has been the person that has stood strong as the voice of political moderate wisdom in Washington.

However, I must tell you another truth….and that is that as of today, I’m undecided as to which of the two candidates will be honored with my vote. Although, I currently have a slight leaning towards Obama…mainly since McCain chose the Barracuda as Vice-president.

As most independent and moderate voters, I don’t vote for the party but for the person. The only real reason I affiliated with a party, is so I get to vote in primary elections in my state.

I will admit that I am mesmerized by Obama’s speeches and overall message of change. I’m certain, I would have felt equally mesmerized if I had been a Venezuelan hearing Hugo Chavez’ first presidential speech. Or a German listening to Hitler as the Nazi party argued the need for change. Populist candidates have a way of exploiting the inequalities that have always existed in our society.

Nevertheless, the fact is that inequalities do exist. So a message of a need for change is not necessarily a falsehood.

While I believe McCain has the most integrity of the two candidates, I’m not certain I feel too comfortable with a president that will most likely wear adult diapers as he meets with other world leaders.

I’m talking with a “black” friend about nothing special, when all of a sudden the conversation turned into an issue of race.
Here is that portion of the conversation to the best of my knowledge. I won’t use my friend’s real name…so I’ll name him….mmhhhhh, I guess I’ll pick a random name….how about Tyron.

Tyron: So if you are walking down a sidewalk and some “black” dude is coming towards you…would it worry you?…honestly, would it?

GEM: For sure…without hesitation I will cross the street to avoid crossing paths with him!

Tyron: Don’t you think that’s racist?

GEM: Impossible…I don’t have an ounce of racism in me….but I do care about my life!

Tyron: wow…and you are not racist?!

GEM: What would you do?…don’t lie just because you are “black” and say that you would just keep walking just as if it was an old lady walking towards you. I bet you will avoid the “black” guy too!

Tyron: I honestly wouldn’t…not any more than if it the guy was “white” or “latino”. Would you avoid the guy if he was “latino” or “white”?

GEM: Of course not…assuming they were all dressed nice…casual…I would only avoid the “black” guy.

Tyron: If you are not racist, then WHY would you only avoid the “black” guy?

GEM: The odds that the “black” guy is going to stab me or kick my head until it cracks to steal $20 are higher than with any other “race”. Even “black” people know this!

Tyron: You are so fucking stupid. The only reason I don’t kick your head right now is because I know someone eventually will. You are good at pissing people off.

GEM: Ok ok…I’m kidding…but not by much. If I see two Hispanics walking towards me…I might avoid them.

Tyron: So…three Hispanics you will cross the street to avoid them for sure?

GEM: No…I wouldn’t, because I know the odds are that one of the three will be a good guy. Hispanic violence is not as high as with blacks. One Hispanic….no problem because I know I can take him, Hispanics and “whites” usually fight fair. Black people do not.

Tyron: Shut up bro!!…you are just talking bullshit as usual.

This is an actual conversation with my friend. I couldn’t finish clarifying my point to him, because in all honestly, we were eating at a restaurant and he was holding a steak knife. So I kind of dropped it.

The issue is, why would I be afraid of a stranger walking towards me if he is “black” as oppose to anyone else? I know this position doesn’t make me a racist. It simply makes me careful.

It is sad facts that proportionately to their respective populations black people commit more crimes. There may be reasons and excuses of why this is so…but the fact remains that…sadly… it is so.

If I’m drunk, I may agree that indeed the cause of this issue is the historical oppression of “blacks” by “whites”, which perhaps still continues today. Yet, since right now I’m not drunk, I would suggest that the real cause is a shared lack of responsibility by the entire “black” society.

My friend Tyron should not automatically assume that my actions are racist. He should question why I would take such action. Why do I fear a black man in this scenario?

Join the Boycott against VIACOM

Imagine for a second that the author of a book files suit against Barnes & Noble because he feels he was the victim of a copyright violation…now imagine this author wins. In turn the moronic judge orders B&N to hand over the names of every single person to have ever bought a book there and the names of the books, magazines, etc that they purchased. Would this make sense? In Nazi Germany…perhaps, in the United States of America…obviously.

As you already know….a mentally retarded judge ordered Google to handover the names,IDs, IP addresses of every person to have ever watched a video on YouTube…and what videos they have watched…to Viacom.

The video below explains the issue better…and in my opinion…with the right choice of colorful words. The issue is no longer if Viacom is right or wrong or if we should fear someone finding out what kind of videos we have watched on YouTube. The issue relates to protecting our basic expectation to privacy, regardless if it exists or not.

I will ask you to join the forces now attempting to send a message of disgust…boycott everything Viacom. This link lists those companies under Viacom.

The Artistic Side of the Gay Mold

Last Friday I went with Pablo to see a theatrical production called “Undershorts”. “Undershorts” is an adult comedy composed of eight short plays, each lasting about 10 or 15 minutes. They were fairly good. A few skits were a bit amateurish, but all were surprisingly entertaining. There was one play where a woman was insatiably attracted to a ventriloquist’s wooden dummy. The skit started with the woman in bed moaning increasingly louder until she had orgasmic convulsions. Then from under the covers this guy sticks out, dressed in a suit, with his dummy-doll wearing a HUGE 14 inch dildo. The woman even performed oral sex on the dummy…and let me tell you…she was obviously an amazing actress, deeply into her character, because she swallowed that dildo fairly deep…over and over. I will have to admit, I felt a bit uncomfortable. I found myself looking away a bit embarrassed. Pablo on the other hand, seemed completely fixated on the whole thing. Of course, this wasn’t porno….there was an actual plot to the short play.

But this is not what I want to write about.

I took a visual survey of the audience and by making a few obvious assumptions, realized that about 30% were gay. Not straight acting gays…I mean flexible-wristed, fashionably-dressed and flamboyant gay people. There was even one gay guy infatuated with Pablo. Of course, my first reaction was to get jealous. “What does Pablo have that I don’t have?!” I thought to myself. “I need to remember to bring some really ugly friend with me next time, so I get some attention!” Not that I want to get hit on by gay men…I just hate not being the center of attention.

However, the real issue I want to write about is….why do so many gay people attend this cultural stuff? Is this part of their gay gene? Not to argue about genetics, but my point is that art…the appreciation of it…would seem to be subject to an individual’s personal predilections to the arts – gay or straight –. This could not be driven by the “feminine” side of gay men, because women are not over-represented in these types of artistic environments. Nor could this be a cultural phenomenon because gayness transcends cultural identity….or does it?

Actually, I can only hypothesize that the over-representation of gays in the arts, is indeed due to a cultural identity which develops “artificially” isolated from the typical influences that shape anyone’s culture. Generally, our personal culture is tied to the traditions and customs in which we were raised, our ethnicity, and other similar factors.

Ok…you may ask…”but most men like sports…regardless of their upbringing…so is this in their genes or is it an “artificially” developed culture?” In this case, I would have to say genes. Men are inherently competitive…as nature intended. So although men no longer go out there with spears and drums killing the neighboring tribes…men still enjoy bombing the shit out of them or at least watching “our representatives” make the most goals, baskets, points, etc against them in any sport.

So appreciation of the arts is not the same as appreciation of sports. Appreciation of the arts ties more to personal “taste”. Besides a gay man still a man…and not all men like the arts, nor do all women for that matter. So why do most gay men seem to enjoy the arts?
I believe that at a certain level, gay men like art because they reason that that is what gay people should like….in other words, gay people LEARN to appreciate art as they come to terms with their identity. Gay people probably grow up thinking that they are expected to know about fashion, art, and interior design, so they “learn to know” these elements of life. Conversely, they grow up thinking that they should not know anything about sports, cars, and how to fight.

It is sad, because if I’m right, it would mean that gay people have developed a mold (aka “artificial culture”) as a means to disconnect themselves from conventional gender roles. This mold is spread by example, media, and other methods. Thus at the end, the persona of many gay men is nothing more than an act based on an external foreign creation that makes them less human. Less human…because they lose part of whom they really are to become what they think they are supposed to be.

The truth is that sexual preference should be irrelevant in life. I don’t care if someone is left or right handed…I don’t care if someone is gay or straight. On the other hand, for some strange reason, homosexuality is relevant to some people….and I’m not talking about homophobes…I’m referring to gay people themselves. As gay people crawl into this “gay mold”…they remind the rest of the world that being gay also means being fake and less of an individual.
